Large enterprises in the agricultural industry do not “give up” to the pandemic

At this time, while farmers and small-scale agricultural production farms are facing many difficulties due to disruptions in the supply and consumption chains, many agricultural enterprises still report large profits. Despite the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic in many localities across the country, businesses and cooperatives in the large agricultural production value chain have not been disrupted.

Các chuỗi giá trị vẫn không bị đứt gãy.

Value chains remain unbroken

“Large value chains are less affected by market and social fluctuations. Therefore, we need to focus on consolidating and expanding chains.” This is the direction of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien when chairing a meeting between members of the Northern Special Task Force of the Ministry (Working Group 3430) and businesses and industry associations of processing, seafood, animal husbandry and cultivation, on the afternoon of August 10, 2021.

MULTIPLE ENTERPRISE INCREASE PRODUCTION VOLUME

Mr. Nguyen Nhu So, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dabaco Group Joint Stock Company, said that the company now exports more than 3,000 pigs every day, the price for slaughter fluctuates around 55,000 VND/kg. At this price, many local farmers “lament” they are losing money, but with Dabaco it is still profitable.

Explaining this, Mr. So shared that because the company can produce seed, feed and master breeding techniques, the production cost is low. In addition, Dabaco also supplies to the market 800,000 eggs/day, and continuously produces 3 shifts to ensure the amount of cooking oil to the market.

Dabaco’s experience is to give employees the Covid-19 vaccine early, implement the “3 on the spot” option, and proactively zone out risks at the transportation stage. The company also actively opened more sales points than before the epidemic.

“The corporation is producing in a chain and thanks to the previous epidemic prevention, it is not affected by social distancing. However, in the production process, it is necessary for the authorities to solve the most important problem, which is circulation from production to consumption. Because at present, there is still a situation where each locality regulates themselves, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development needs to work with the transport sector to unify the whole country in circulation issues, “said Mr. So.

A representative of Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company (Doveco) shared that the company’s fruit and vegetable purchasing, processing and exporting activities are still taking place normally. The company has proactively foreseen every stage of production, including the “green channel” procedure for transporting goods, so there is no disruption to the production and transportation chain.

Currently, the company maintains processing from 400 to 500 tons of raw materials a day, producing 150-180 tons of finished products. In addition to traditional pineapple products, the company also purchases mangoes, Son La sweet corn, Yen Bai bamboo shoots, and Gia Lai passion fruit to diversify finished products.

Pham Thi Huan, Director of Ba Huan Co., Ltd., said that the company’s factory is closed for production and processing, plus the application of technology, so it is not passive about workers. Sharing with consumers’ difficulties, the company’s product prices remain stable. Currently, each day the unit provides from 1.2 to 1.4 million eggs to the market.

According to Mr. Vo Viet Dung, Director of the Joint Stock Company of South Hanoi Food Processing Group, which is a pork processing company supplying the Hanoi market, since the Covid-19 epidemic broke out again, the company has doubled the amount of pork supplied to the market compared to the previous time.

In the past few days, while many food suppliers had to stop working due to Covid-19 cases, the Hanoi South Food Processing Group Joint Stock Company still increased its number to 300-400%  according to the requirements of the city and the market to serve the supermarket systems in Hanoi.

“The company has performed “3 on-site”, 3 days of testing Covid-19 for workers once, and the cost of testing, disinfection and protection for 70 workers has cost about 10 million VND/day. Currently, the business is producing at full capacity, and workers are working to double shifts compared to normal to meet the food demand in Hanoi,” Dung shared.

“The unit specializes in delivering goods by specialized vehicles, but many other units have to transport by motorbike, so it is necessary to create a “green channel” for food trucks. If the state management has a new direction, it is advisable to consult with enterprises”.

BEING ACTIVE, CREATIVE IN PRODUCTION AND BUSINESS

At the meeting, representatives of many cooperatives complained again. Mr. Le Viet, Director of Xuyen Viet Production and Trading Cooperative, said that the price of tilapia of the cooperative is currently 3,000-5,000 VND/kg lower than the production cost.

Meanwhile, the price of animal feed increased, the cost of circulation increased, and consumption was difficult. Previously, the cooperative sold 10-15 tons of fish per day at Yen So fish market, but now Xuyen Viet Cooperative only consumes 3-5 tons/day.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Vietnam Livestock Association, said that the Covid-19 epidemic had a great impact on establishments not in the value chain. These facilities are prone to broken production chains and are dependent on collectors.

In order to remove difficulties for farmers, farms and cooperatives through administrative procedures, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Toan, Director of the Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development proposed to waive 100% of the facility requirements for food safety certification fee. Free quarantine for pets at production facilities that have been certified to meet disease safety standards.

Exemption of 100% of fees for issuance of export certificates, reduction of 50% of costs for inspecting export shipments related to the issuance of export certificates of agro-forestry-fishery products for agro-forestry-fishery exporters.

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said that in the first 7 months of this year, agriculture was one of the few sectors with a trade surplus, with a trade surplus of 3.9 billion USD.

Appreciating the efforts of enterprises such as Doveco, Dabaco, Ba Huan… Deputy Minister Tien emphasized that through the activities of large enterprises, production chains are very important.

Regarding the fact that localities still have different regulations in circulation, causing difficulties for businesses, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said that in the process of implementation, conflicts arise, the Ministry will continue to discuss with localities, ministries and branches for timely removal. Particularly in Hanoi, there are scenarios if any wholesale market is affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, there will be suitable replacement points.

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien suggested the initiative and creativity of establishments and localities, and asked the Department of Crop Production to direct the crop season and structure accordingly; The Department of Livestock Production promotes the implementation of biosafety breeding models on livestock.
