Enterprise implementing AI are dominating

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an irreversible trend in development, bringing high efficiency to businesses.

On the afternoon of September 16, at the seminar “Enterprises and deploying artificial intelligence applications”, the guests shared stories from reality showing that AI will help both state management apparatus as well as businesses adapt faster to new situations.

Citing a story from his business, Mr. Tran Huu Quyen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VNPT Technology said that many products apply AI technology to solve problems of Vietnam and businesses.

AI was applied many years ago at VNPT Technology to develop AI camera devices focusing on household customers, photo and video processing; AI Box and natural language processing products such as English, French, Japanese, Chinese…

These product sets are developed with the goal of meeting requirements and solving real-world problems. One of them is that the camera system is approached in the way that the application of AI improves into a smart camera. This product can be used for businesses to monitor security, employee attendance, access management, and customer identification.

According to Mr. Quyen, facial, fingerprint and voice recognition products have been applied in banks.

In the family smart camera can also identify the behavior of the elderly, children or recognize the intrusion of strangers.

In the field of agriculture, AI and IoT are also applied high technology by VNPT Technology. The technology helps to automate and optimize the care process, provide nutrients, monitor the response of the collected plants, thereby making growth forecasts, identifying and predicting the pest and disease status of the plants. The models have been optimized and applied for each crop

On a larger scale, there are solutions that apply AI in production to monitor the entire line, optimizing the production process.

Quyen said that the products are a collaborative effort of research units and businesses to build an ecosystem and apply AI in practice.

Demonstrating more AI applications to solve real-life problems, Dr. Hoang Ngoc Duong, Deputy Director of Viettel Cyberspace Center introduced many AI applications in public administration, in which AI can interact with people, automate business processes, manage resources, assets, resources, and support decision making.

Dr. Duong said that Viettel has built an AI strategy to 2025, focusing on developing and mastering AI’s core technology. Recently, there have been a number of AI application products developed.

One of them is the Cyber-Callbot application that automatically calls to remind people to install the Bluezone application, developed in 2021. In Hai Duong, this product has made nearly 1 million calls in more than 10 days. In Bac Ninh and Bac Giang, the application made 1.5 million calls in 2 days. As a result, the number of people installing Bluezone application increased 3 times compared to calls from officials.

“To make 1 million calls normally takes 1 month, but with this product it only takes 1 day. Currently, Viettel has optimized to improve the call performance of 1 million calls in 8 hours,” said Dr. Duong.

This product is also used by the application to call F0 patients treated with Molnupiravir to remind them to take the medicine on behalf of medical staff. Cyber Callbot has made over 10,000 calls for patients, collected 5,200 symptoms to transfer to doctors for research. This application ensures that every case is reminded to take the medicine on time and is not missed.

As the third speaker in the session, speaker Nguyen Van Minh Duc, co-founder and CEO of Hekate AI Company also pointed out many AI applications in practice. Including customer care applications, production process management and human resource management issues.

Hekate AI company has developed many applications, cooperated with AI application authors to write books and compose music. In the medical field, the company also cooperates with doctors to use AI to diagnose cerebrovascular diseases; counseling for the transgender (LGBT) community. AI is also used by Hekate AI Company to detect and check violations of brands advertising milk for children under 24 months old on cross-border platforms…

State agencies must pioneer the application of AI

In the roundtable discussion, Mr. Nguyen Phu Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Informatization, Ministry of Information and Communications gave a perspective from state management agencies in promoting AI application.

Mr. Tien said that in the national digital transformation program, digital technology enterprises are the main force. The goal is that by 2025, Vietnam will develop 100,000 digital technology enterprises, including businesses related to artificial intelligence. To achieve the goal, the state must create favorable legal environment such as tax incentives, land, development of industrial parks, etc.

The program also determined that state agencies must take the lead in applying information technology, including AI application. This is an opportunity for manufacturing enterprises to have an environment to test their products, and state agencies can promote products that prove effective in the implementation process. State agencies must also have the responsibility to act as a bridge between application enterprises and enterprises providing AI products.

However, when applying AI to solve problems for state management agencies, the weak point is data. According to Mr. Tien, the data source in state agencies is still limited, many stages are still done manually. Many civil servants are familiar with the old process and are afraid to change. While it is the operations that bring digital conversion data that will generate.

Therefore, Mr. Tien said that in order to be able to develop products that solve core problems in both the public and corporate sectors, it is important to thicken and connect data. In which the fields of geospatial data, IoT on essential infrastructure, smart cities, or customer behavior applied to finance and banking…

According to Quyen, in order to promote the field of AI, it is necessary to form a sharing community and go together to solve Vietnam’s problems, avoiding wasting resources.

Mr. Quyen also shared his experience of forming a community by building incubation centers to attract investment in AI development. There are many small research groups that need support to bring research ideas into products. “We combine with universities and research groups to develop. If the research team has a product, will integrate it into the application, or it is just an idea, it will be accompanied to the end to complete it,” said Quyen.

Dr. Tran Hung, CEO of GoIT said that AI is not a far-fetched technology. AI simply optimizes repetitive processes for greater efficiency using existing data. AI solves the simplest problems that real life poses.

Regarding how people’s job opportunities will change when applying AI, Mr. Tran Viet Hung said that in fact, there are some professions that cannot compete with AI. At that time, people have to learn by themselves, redirect to improve their skills, create more value instead of doing ordinary simple jobs. Some professions in the future when developing AI will disappear, but jobs related to creativity, with high efficiency, will always have a place.

Agreeing with this view, Tran Huu Quyen said that one should not worry about losing his job. The more people develop, the more they have to do worthy things. Jobs that are repetitive, boring, and use little intelligence should be left to machines.

Talking about how to develop AI products, operate and apply in life Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Que Anh, Dean of Law Faculty, Hanoi National University, from an ethical perspective. She believes that there are four principles that must be followed: Respect for autonomy, prevention of harm, fairness and explainability (i.e. transparency, openness).

Developing AI technology but must be human-centered, ensuring safety and security, respecting each person’s right to self-determination. “Human supervision must be ensured for AI systems,” said Associate Professor Que Anh.

Dr. Hoang Ngoc Duong said that in the future, to develop AI, it is necessary to build shared platforms based on shared databases. First, it is necessary to focus on developing human resources, followed by the application array that closely follows the actual needs of people, businesses, and professional processes of management agencies from the ward, commune and district levels. To do so, it is necessary to regularly train digital transformation staff, improving their capacity is the foundation for successful AI application.

Appreciating the suggestions and information shared by the speakers in the seminar, Mr. Ly Hoang Tung, Deputy Director of the High Technology Department, Ministry of Science and Technology said that he would absorb and apply effectively in the process. implement the National Strategy on Research, Development and Application of AI to 2030.

“Enterprise and application of artificial intelligence” is the fourth seminar in the series of activities of the National Strategy on AI research, development and application until 2030, signed and promulgated by the Prime Minister in early 2021. The strategy was issued with the expectation of promoting AI development in Vietnam, contributing to socio-economic development and gradually turning Vietnam into a bright spot in AI in the region and in the world.
